WARDROBE CONSULTATION & AUDIT

Mandatory offers personal wardrobe planning consultations designed to transform the way you dress and the way you feel about your wardrobe. Consultations can be held in-store or in-home, including out-of-hours appointments, depending on what suits both parties.

The reality is most of us wear only a small percentage of what we own. Together, we’ll edit, refine, and strengthen your wardrobe so it becomes organised, efficient, and easy to style — a curated collection that reflects your personal style and makes getting dressed effortless.

We’ll work through outfit solutions for seasons, work, casual wear, special occasions, and travel — ensuring your wardrobe supports your real life.

While we will offer clear, honest guidance, the final decision is always yours. Sentimental pieces are respected and remain until you feel ready to part with them.

How our in home consultation works

Your consultation begins with a relaxed visit to your home, where we identify your requirements, lifestyle needs, style preferences, and taste. Over approx. 2–3 hours, we review your wardrobe piece by piece.

We will:

• View every garment and assess its value
• Identify the keepers and pieces that aren’t serving you
• Decide together what to keep, alter, or donate
• Recognise garments that hold good concepts but need upgrading
• Identify gaps that are holding your wardrobe back

INVESTMENT

Hourly Rate: $150
Minimum Booking: 2 hours
Travel: TBA

Travel rates apply to Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, Masterton, Kapiti Coast, Wairarapa, and Horowhenua.

How our in store consultation works

This is a more relaxed approach to our styling consultation, where we have an initial discussion about what your current needs are, style choice and taste. You are welcome to bring any existing pieces for us to review.

We will:

• Review the items bought in. Are they keepers or do they need an upgrade?
• Show you styles we believe will suit your needs and taste
• Choose a selection of likely things to try on
• Alter or custom make any pieces as required
• Identify gaps that are holding your wardrobe back and make a plan based on those decisions.

INVESTMENT

Hourly Rate: $120 (this can be reimbursed against purchases on Mandatory clothing on a case/case basis)
Minimum Booking: 2 hours

STYLE FILE & ONGOING SUPPORT

Following your session, you may opt to receive a personalised Style File summarising your consultation. This includes:

• Key strengths identified in you and your wardrobe
• Styling recommendations
• Suggested future purchases
• Guidance on accessories
• Direction on shapes and cuts that best suit you

If you wish, we can also contact you each season when new ranges arrive that align with your style and identified needs.

By understanding what truly works for your shape, lifestyle, and preferences, you’ll find it far easier to make confident, consider purchasing decisions in the future.

If required, we can also:

• Arrange alterations for existing garments
• Assist with selecting new pieces to move you confidently in the right direction
• Provide support with estate wardrobes, handled with discretion and sensitivity
